Biography

Peter Nylander was born in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1970. Shortly after birth, however, his family relocated to the United States. This would become the start of a life abroad until Peter's return to Sweden in 1996. By then he had not only lived in the States, but also several years in Italy and Denmark.

Peter began playing piano at the age of 8. At 11 he switched to guitar, which was to remain his main instrumental focus until today. Composition became a central part of his musicianship early on which lead to studies in classical and jazz composition as well as arranging and orchestration.

In 1995 Peter graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston receiving a Bachelor of Music Degree in performance, composition and arranging. After graduation he moved to Stockholm where he began working as a freelance guitarist, composer and teacher.

Today Peter works as a film composer, sound designer and studio multi-instrumentalist. He is a member of the rock group Paatos as well as several jazz groups. Encounters over the years with other instrument groups lead Peter to explore various wind instruments from different corners of the world. He now actively plays Indian Bansuri flute, Turkish Ney and Armenian Duduk. His bansuri playing can be heard in Susanne Bier's Academy Award Winning "In A Better World" .

Peter has worked as composer on award-winning productions with National Geographic, Arte, Deep Sea Productions, Filmator, Malcolm Dixelius, Mattias Klum, Folke Rydén, SVT and NRK to name a few.
